The name of the club shall be MIDDLESBROUGH GAMERS CLUB, hereinafter referred to as the Club or MGC.The aims of the Club are:
1 - To play table top games, to introduce people to new and unique table top games and to provide a safe location and equipment for members to play games who may not be able to, due to financial, social or other reasons.
2 - To promote fair play, honesty and sportsmanship through the playing of table top games. Any member found cheating will be subject to Club disciplinary action, as this undermines the aims of the Club.
3 - To welcome members irrespective of race, age, creed, sex or ability. Club membership will only be granted after attending six meetings within six months. As a member failure to attend the club for 6 months will result in loss of membership. The MGC committee retain the right to refuse membership and admission subject to appeal.
4 - To provide a safe and secure environment for members and visitors using the clubs health and safety policy. Whilst taking all care, Middlesbrough Gamers Club will not be held responsible for any injuries howsoever caused in the club.
5 - MGC is a non-profit making organisation, A canteen may be run as a fundraiser,all monies raised by the club, including the canteen, will be used for the sole benefit of the club members and for the promotion of the club including charitable donations. The club accounts including funds raised by the canteen to be checked, by two members of the committee who are not the treasurer, no more than 8 weeks prior to the agm and details to be presented to the members at the agm.In the event of the club closing , any monies outstanding in the bank balance and property will be donated to a charity or charities chosen by the committee after consultation with the members
6 - To deal with breaches of the clubs rules, which form part of this constitution, in a fair and consistent manner using the clubs disciplinary procedure
7 - The MGC committee will consist of: a) Chairperson b) Treasurer c) Secretary d) A minimum of two other executive members. e) Co-opted positions as deemed necessary by the chairperson and agreed by the committee.
8 - Nominations for club committee membership are to be open to paid up members throughout each January and are to be submitted in writing accompanied by a nominator and seconder. The club committee are to be elected on a yearly basis at an AGM held on the first Tuesday meeting of each February by a simple show of hands or a paper ballot, by all members present. The committee reserve the right to co-opt club members onto the committee as required.
9 - The committee will meet as and when required (but at least 6 times each year) 50 percent of the executive committee must be present for a decision to be finalised. Minutes are to be taken as appropriate.
10 - Any committee member who fails to attend the club for 6 consecutive weeks without an acceptable reason will be removed from the committee.
11 - An extraordinary general meeting may be called by either the committee members or by at least one third of the club members present.
12 - This constitution can only be changed by the committee subject to ratification at the agm or at an extraordinary general meeting called in accordance with section 11.
Rules 2008
1 - Any member caught stealing will face instant suspension, followed, after an investigation finding them guilty of theft, a lifetime ban. The police may be involved at the committee's discretion.
2 - No abusive or foul language, inappropriate, racist or sexual remarks includingSlogans on clothes, badges, banners etc. is allowed
3 - Threatening behaviour, bullying or inappropriate physical contact is not allowed. As a member of Middlesbrough Gamers Club, your actions or behaviour should not bring discredit to the Club.
4 - No alcohol or illegal drugs to be brought into or used within the building. Any member or visitor believed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be asked by a Committee member to leave
5 - Any Club member using Club property is responsible for its care and security; this may involve signing for it especially if it is borrowed between meetings. All Club property used must be repacked and returned to the storage area by the members using it, any damaged or missing pieces should be reported to the committee
6 - All games must end 15 minutes before the Club finishing time
7 - Members are responsible for the security of their own possessions whilst in the Club.The Club cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage that occurs to members' possessions
8 - Club dues should be paid at each meeting attended, when requested. Remember, if you are in the club for half an hour or 4 hours you still need to pay! Avoidance of paying your dues will be treated as theft!
9 - Members and their activities should not interfere with other members' enjoyment of their games, particularly if noisy or if not strictly confined to one area.
10 - No gambling is permitted in the Club whatsoever. Buying and selling is confined to Club run events i.e. Tournaments , bring and buy nights etc. Food and drink can only be brought into the club with the committee’s agreement.
11 – No computers or electronic gaming devices to be used in the club except in the Club’s own laptop being used for club business.Health and safety policy(a) Members under the age of 10 are not allowed to use Knives, Clippers or Glue in the club. (b) Members aged between 10 and 16 can only use Knives, Clippers or Glue if supervised by an over 16 (c) Only modelling tools approved by the committee may be used in the club. (d) All club members should take care that any activity or action they perform in the club should not put the health and safety of themselves or other club users at risk.MIDDLESBROUGH GAMERS CLUB DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURE
Stage 1 - Verbal Warning from committee member Stage 2 - Official (Recorded) warning from committee member Stage 3 - Meeting to discuss problem with committee Stage 4 - Suspension, or if deemed serious enough, a ban from the Club.
The seriousness of the offence will dictate which stage is used, a member may appeal to the committee at any stage.
Any member that feels that a Club rule has been breached should report the matter to a Committee member.
