Stuart, as Chairman, opened the meeting and gave a short speech. He stated it had been a good year for the club considering the position we had started from. We are in a good financial position and the club will be run to maintain this.
Stuart thanked the committee members for their efforts over the last year and especially the three members who had volunteered to run the canteen, and had been co-opted on to the committee , Joe Dollery , Parry Cooke and Liam Cooke.
We have committed ourselves and the club to running an event in November called Smoggy.con at the Southlands centre, Stuart reported, this is to be possible at no risk to the club if we receive a grant we have applied for.
Kevin gave a brief report on the grant. One change to the rules and constitution was read out by Kevin and it was agreed unanimously by the membership. The procedure for the election was explained by Kevin and the candidates introduced , anyone wishing to make a speech did so now .
The election was held and the ballot papers counted , the result was announced to the club.

Open day 08 Middlesbrough Gamers Club
July 2008
10th Anniversary Open day
On the first Saturday of the month , our normal Megaday was expanded to an open day event to celebrate the fact we have been running as a club for ten years. The hall was transformed into a number of participation games and stands.
Graham Cummins , an experienced wargamer who has put on displays at most major events round the country, had chosen to do an American War of Indedendence battle. This proved popular with the older members and visitors and several people commented on the rules system used and the ease of play.
The younger and the not so serious gamers were not left out with the clubs own games Orky races and Centreburg being run at regular intervals. Centreburg was the picture that appeared in the Evening Gazette , with its futuristic look of Middlesbrough including a ruined Town Hall , wrecked Transporter bridge and lady of dubious virtue standing under a bridge , it was a photo opportunity too good to miss.
Old friends and even a founder member popped in to have a word and see how the club was doing. People who had seen the adverts in the local paper and shops came for a look round and a chat. A number of them promised to come in on a regular club night.
The hot food cooked by club chairman Stuart and aided by Danny proved popular , the bacon butties are always a favourite but the “ breakfast in a trough” was amazing. The fact only Kevin , the club secretary, could finish one speaks for itself.
The Heroclix games run by Steve were giving away freebies to new players , an excellent way to get people involved and provided the regular players with competition they had not met before.
Towards the end of the day the raffle was drawn, with prizes donated by Pendragen Minitures , Gameworld and Stuart there was some decent stuff , most of it won by chris who most have spent all his pocket money on tickets. As we packed away the tables discussion took place on making this an annual event…..Smoggy.con !!!TheoldoneonSaturday 26 July 2008 - 07:37:12
Steve Date - National Champion Congratulations to Steve Date on becoming the UK and Ireland national champion at a recent heroclix event.
The event at Milton Keynes on the 14th June attracted 60 of the top Heroclix players in the country and was run over two days . It took the form of nine Qualifiers and a knockout round .
Middlesbrough Gamers Club had four members take part , as well as "Steve the winner" there was Steve Hunt, who finished a very respectable 6th , Dave Hansell and Dale. The latter two were attending a national championship of the first time , all good experience for them if they wish to emulate Steve Date.
Both Steves have worked to promote Heroclix not just in Middlesbough Gamers Club but the surrounding area and it is good to see a nice guy can be a winner. Steve will be helping run the new guy Heroclix event at our open day on the 5th of July, so any members seeing him there be sure to congratulate him on his success.
PS Also seen judging there was Sean Hart , the man who introduced Heroclix into the Middlesbrough Gamers Club.TheoldoneonSaturday 28 June 2008 - 09:02:04
